PLANNING THE ALTERNATIVE

PL

The Why & The BHAG

I embarked on a blended learning journey with my ultimate goal being empowerment in learning for students that will help them become lifelong learners. I have realized that before achieving such a goal, I should first use my role as an instructional coach to influence the educators who will be working directly with these students. In this page, I describe how I plan to do just that.

3-Column Table

The Three-Column Table

Developing a three-column table helped to guide the outline of my personal learning implementation outline. My Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) had to have a purpose and ultimately align with the vision for our campus. With my goal established, it served as a guide when creating my three-column table and it was then easier for me to follow up and align my outline for professional learning implementation. The purpose of each learning goal, or phase, is to help educators reach the BHAG and hope that this opens up the opportunity for them to aim their own BHAG at creating lifelong learners. The learning environments worksheet and formulating learning goals worksheets helped guide me through the development of my table and are linked below for viewing.

The course outcomes planning process and the 3-Column table influence my innovation plan because I realize as an instructional coach, my job is to reach teachers first in order for them to reach students and motivate them to become lifelong learners. The ultimate goal is to help students reach their learning potential but classroom teachers are the ones who have the power to influence through their modeling first.

Alternative PL - Outline

Alt PL Outline

Above, you will find an outline for my Professional Learning Implementation Plan. This is specific to elementary mathematics educators on our campus. The ongoing PL courses are aimed at current classroom educators, teacher leaders, and administrators with various previous experiences who desire to grow in their professions. In order to keep focus on the learning teachers should be willing to step out of their comfort zone while working to grow their knowledge and perceptions of technology use with blended learning.
